Each round of chemo seems to present with different challenges. This one, (I cautiously), write does not seem significantly worse than the last and I am calmer and more accepting of the necessity to do very little. The homeopathic meds seem to be holding the nausea better and the deep sleep afforded by the sleeping pills makes a huge difference. I'm in the second phase of nausea and side effects now and hope it will lift by Wednesday. I also need to be careful of colds etc around days 10 to 14 i.e. next weekend when the white blood cells will be low. Having recovered swiftly inbetween treatments before, I'm hoping for the same agian.
The Iscador, a mistletoe extract, arrived from the UK this morning after much effort from the UK Bashalls and one of Tim's partners. It is a fascinating product which sounds promising.
The family is busy and not particularly unsettled now. Nicola is at White River looking at an interesting Micro Finance project which follows on from her experience in Bangladesh. James heads off to his lovely student life of tutorials, 21st parties and hockey tomorrow. Ali has his head down to write his first set of exams in a year, having carefully sidestepped them last year by going to India. Tim is exhausted after the gruelling chemo week but is recovering quietly and making a good effort to keep fit.
There's lots of living to be done.
Hi Margi
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for letting us know how you are. You've been very much on my mind this week so I'm pleased things are going as well as can be expected.
My life trundles on and there's nothing too major to report really. Work is great, and if anything we're growing a little too quickly.
We've had a really proper summer in the UK, so any minute now we'll start saying it's too hot (which it almost is) which proves I've finally moved it. I talk about the weather, after all! But, as I keep harping on about, I'm coming to SA in September and that will confuse me again not doubt. Anyway - cross that bridge when I come to it.
Greg & Kas are well and send love. If you phone number is still the same I may text you and say xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and lot lot love from me. Frankie
moved IN not moved IT!! Doh.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Margi
ReplyDeleteYvonne Kane told me about your blog and it is so wonderful to have a complete update. You are all in my heart and prayers. Loved the fact that your family had been involved in such a wonderful project - well done to Al for the art teaching!
Wondering about that mistletoe extract - do you suppose you'll have complete strangers stopping you in the street to kiss you?!
Grace and peace to you for each day.
Lots and lots of love

Dearest, dearest Margi, just to let you know that you are in our constant prayers. I've just had a couple of weeks in the USA with Nicky visiting Susan and step-sister Heather, and not a day went by without your being lifted before our Lord who is the One who heals. I sometimes feel really helpless, but can just let you know that as those friends carried their friend to Jesus, so we are carrying you to Him. Remember how you used to pray for me in the shower - well it's your turn now - but not just in "shower hour" (has a different connotation these days!!) but throughout the day too. Your positive attitude is a lesson for us all. We love you, Ali and Chris XXX I'm embarrassed to say this is the first time I've ever blogged - so hope you receive this!!
ReplyDeleteHi Margi,
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping us posted, and everything of the best for your strength and serenity. I wish I could pop across the pond and give you and your Mum a hug, although a little help with the chores would probably be more useful. Very hot here right now, but we have A.C. and a pool.
Much love from us both, Liz
Dearest Margi
ReplyDeleteI have just been told about your blog - what a clever idea. I have always admired, and will continue to admire your positive attitude and strength. It was wonderful to read about the teaching project involving Nicola, James and Ali. So special!
You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Lots of love to all of you.

Dearest darling Margi - Dee Lynam/Freund (who is utterly useless on the computer) called me yesterday and told me that you had cancer and had set up a blog - but she didn't know how to access it. I think it took me all of 10 seconds to find it - and - believe me, I am no computer genius.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bummer. What a complete and utter ring sting. Kuk, kuk, kuk. You sound strong. You set a good example to us all: many of us will be following your path in the not too distant future. Thank you for sharing it with us. If we could take the pain for you, you know that there are so many people around you who would do it.
You have 3 beautiful children and you have brought them up so beautifully. Remember when that little Nicola was a newborn? You were such a natural mother and I was so jealous of your life: baby and stud husband etc. And then came your boy - another joy. And finally - what was it that you called your third baby? It was something like "the bonus prize" - the really easy child. The last time I saw him he was an edible little munchkin with chubby cheeks.
Margi - life throws the most unexpected curve-balls. They are what give us character. This is a big one: if anyone has the character to hit it for a six, it is you. Take a big backswing and just whack it with all you've got.
My munchkin (now nearly 12) and I have just moved back to London from Melbourne - if you are on Facebook, all our news is on my page and if you are up to it, my email address is fifileroy@gmail.com.
Love you lots and lots and lots.
Sterkte
