All is well

My year is ending on a big high with all 3 children delighting us in so many ways.

Nicola starts a new job in financial consulting with KPMG in London on 9 January, James has graduated with first class honours and Ali has been offered a provisional place in medicine at Wits next year.

I couldn't ask more of them.

As I firmly believe in the old saying that it takes a village to raise a child, I need to thank the many of you who are significant role models and active supporters of us all. They could never have got this far without you.

Tim has reached the end of an exhausting business year, having made significant inroads into Africa and travelled far and wide. He has 5 weeks of well deserved long leave now.

We had an utterly glorious week together as a family in the Maldives in the first week of December. While languishing under a perfect palm tree, with a delicious cocktail in my hand, surrounded by my wonderful family, I did wonder how much more perfect heaven could be, or , if in fact, I was already there. Among other things, cancer has taught us to embrace the present and to make it as good as possible. Tim's astounding generosity makes this happen frequently.

God bless you over Christmas. Thank you for your support and prayers.

  1. Wonderful to hear all is well with you all. Do tell Nic to call me when she is in London 0777 543 5925. If she is not an opera or ballet fan, I would love to turn her into one!

  2. Hello Margi. From the unlikely place of Zion National park in Utah . Reading your blog and thrilled to hear the news that you are so much better and that the prognosis has improved so much. It is a long struggle for all of you and yours but you appear to be brave and positive in your outlook. Learning to live in the moment and enjoy the present is a wonderful skill. (one I could do with working on). We are here having a wonderful holiday with our children and Sarah's boyfriend. We were due to go to new York on the 10th January but the weather was so crummy in NZ that we changed our flights and decided to spend a few
weeks in West USA. It has been lovely doing a bit of a tour of the national park s and the weather has been wonderful. Bright sunny days every day.
Just to catch you up. Our girls are 25 and 21. Jess has just finished her law degree. Completing it by doing and overseas exchange in the UK. She loved it and having done a gap year there previously just fitted in and enjoyed every moment. Sarah has fi usher her BComm majoring in tax and is going in to her second year of law next year. She has really enjoyed the tax so may yet follow inher father footsteps.

Willy continues to work and enjoy it. I continue to teach and enjoy it I have had a few years off the teaching but am now back ( mixed feelings from Willy).

Mum and dad are ok. Mum struggles with memory issues ( I am sure your Mother has told you)But is physically very fit. Dad is well albeit much slower and full of arthritis. Mum often speaks of Gilly and I think feels sad that they are unlikely to meet again.

We had a lovely Christmas with Lindsay and her family joining us all in Auckland.

Keep well Margi. I shall keep and eye on your blog Anne. Sussman.
